Traveling nurse profession is a career that allows one to take a short position anywhere in the country. And position induced by a relatively high demand for nurses, especially because of their lack, in certain areas. To provide a solution to this, the hospital is more than willing to pay for traveling nurses with very high rates in exchange for filling-in a certain position for a short period of time.
More often than not, traveling nurses in the workplace, especially live anywhere from three months for one year. It all depends on the needs of hospital work, really. Also, it is the employers who provide housing for nurses. And lack of housing facilities, subsidies are given instead.
The need for travel nurses appear as full-time nurses to resign, take leave, or be absent for a period of time. In such cases where the replacement nurses are not employed, who are called traveling nurses to fill the void. Of course, travel nurses can choose to take over full-time positions vacant at the time offered to them.
There is no definite rate of wages for traveling nurse. This is because most hospitals choose to pay them related to their experience, specialty, and location. But then again, average travel nurses are paid anywhere from $ 24 to as much as $ 35 per hour. They also paid something extra in the form of subsidized housing. If traveling nurses who are assigned in areas with higher living costs such as New York, Chicago, and San Francisco, is expected to pay higher.
